BERNINA GRAN TURISMO

After a lot of rain during the night, we were welcomed early in the morning by a beautiful, clear sky. So we started the second day of the Bernina Gran Turismo with a lot of anticipation, which was all about training. The road to the Bernina Pass was closed to public traffic from 06:30, and we had to drive up beforehand if we didn't want to take a 1-hour walk. So we were already on the Bernina Pass at 06:10 and enjoyed the early silence.

The hospice had already opened, and it was whole house with the marshals and other helpers who were fortifying themselves for the day. From 7 o'clock, life slowly began to awaken on the course. The first mechanics and riders set to work and slowly joined the formation.

Around 7:45 am the race convoy set off in the direction of La Rösa, where the start of the approx. 6.2 km long track was located, accompanied by great rattling, firecrackers, and the taste of petrol. Shortly afterward, the first training runs started, and the works of art on wheels shot up the track, accompanied by all kinds of great sounds that mechanical, petrol-powered devices make🙌 A feast for the ears and eyes.

Unfortunately, like all good days, the day ended far too early, so we left Bernina Gran Turismo shortly after midday because the Older Classics in the Motor Valley Kempthal was waiting for us the next day, and we had to prepare a few things for it.

Our conclusion: A super event stands out from most others due to its significant advantages. In the backdrop of St. Moritz and the Bernina Pass, a manageable number of visitors contributed to a relaxed atmosphere at all times and the proximity to the vehicles, drivers, and the action. Not to forget all the precisions that you otherwise never or hardly ever get to see. One thing is for sure, we will be back next year👍🏁🙌
