Welcome to FLITZERLAND lll
The Flitzers get to gether at Fondazione Monte Verita
Finally, the time had come. FLITZERLAND III, organized by the Flitzer Club Berlin and their mastermind Dirk Rumpf, was about to take place after a long wait. As you could see from the chat, there was a lot of anticipation and preparation well in advance, so nothing could stand in the way of a great ride.
We started Monty at 10 a.m. to travel comfortably over the Gotthard to Ascona. However, a leaking carburetor needle put a (small) spanner in the works after a short stretch, more precisely at the petrol station. However, thanks to an experienced mechanic and the tip to lift the throttle and let it fall when starting the engine, we drove on without any problems after the first attempt, and only once more in the three days, and almost 1000 km, did we have to help out in this way. So we not only enjoyed the drive over the Gotthard in beautiful weather but also the subsequent lunch in Ascona with a visit to an old bookshop, where we bought a few exciting (car) magazines from the 20s and 30s
After traveling from Berlin, Freiburg, Brussels, Munich, etc., for various lengths of time, some of which took several days, we met the Flitzers at the Fondazione Monte Verità and its Bauhaus Hotel above Ascona. There was a nice parking space for our treasures where our passions had to wait patiently in line for tomorrow's first ride together.
Meanwhile, the Flitzers gathered for a sophisticated aperitif in the hotel garden and dinner in the glass cube. Many of the participants have been at the start since Flitzerland l, so the reunion was a joyful affair and accordingly quickly one was on the subject - the most important secondary matter in the world. Unfortunately, it then came out that one car had one or the other little ailment on the journey. At the end of the evening, however, all participants were at the start or at the dinner table, so Flitzerland III could start the next day with a complete crew.
After an excellent meal and first discussions about the routes and breaks of tomorrow, the first day ended. A quiet night amid beautiful flora and fauna and a lake view lay ahead of us.
